Yaletown suits a short city stay built on patio dinners and the False Creek seawall, and TransLink's table puts Yaletown–Roundhouse station 23 minutes from YVR–Airport. The stadium district sits just east, so on BC Place concert and game nights book dinner ahead.

Engine 374, which pulled the first transcontinental passenger train into Vancouver in 1887, lives here at Davie Street and Pacific Boulevard.
Yaletown sits on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation). The name comes from Yale, British Columbia, because many of the Canadian Pacific Railway workers who built the yards on the north shore of False Creek after 1889 resettled here from that town. Railway-era brick warehouses still line Hamilton and Mainland streets. They stand on the old rail platforms under cantilevered canopies, and restaurants and bars now fill their ground floors.
Expo 86 took over the neighbouring industrial land, and the towers that followed made Yaletown one of the most densely populated parts of the city. Engine 374 pulled the first transcontinental passenger train into Vancouver in 1887, and it now lives at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre at Davie Street and Pacific Boulevard. The centre fills a converted Canadian Pacific Railway roundhouse and uses the old turntable as a small outdoor amphitheatre.
Okeya Kyujiro at 1038 Mainland Street serves omakase and holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide. Moltaqa at 1002 Mainland and Elisa at 1109 Hamilton Street both made the guide's recommended list, and Elisa cooks its steaks and seafood over a wood fire. For a drink before dinner, The Spritz inside Opus Vancouver on Davie Street builds its list around Italian aperitivo.
The seawall forms Yaletown's southern edge along False Creek, and David Lam Park opens onto it. The Aquabus calls at its Yaletown dock, which the operator puts five minutes' walk from the Canada Line station, and its rainbow boats stop around False Creek every 15 minutes or less. In October 2026 its service bulletin gave hours of 7 am to 10 pm daily, so check the dock page for winter changes.
Worth knowing
- Ride the Canada Line north to Waterfront for the SeaBus to North Vancouver; TransLink's table gives 4 minutes from Yaletown–Roundhouse.
- On BC Place event nights book Yaletown dinners ahead, and check the Yaletown BIA's events page for the stadium shows.
- The Aquabus says most of its boats and docks take bikes and pets, so a seawall ride can cross False Creek by boat.
