Aquabus

The Aquabus runs the rainbow-painted ferries across False Creek, with a boat every 5 minutes between Hornby Street in downtown Vancouver and Granville Island, and it suits cyclists and anyone travelling with a wheelchair or a stroller that won't fold. An adult crossing costs $5 one way in 2026, plus $1 for a bike. Its tickets don't work on the blue False Creek Ferries boats.

Aquabus keeps 18 boats on the water and runs the Hornby Street to Granville Island crossing every 5 minutes, from 7:00 am until 9:55 pm. The longer routes east to Yaletown, Spyglass Place, Stamps Landing, David Lam Park, Plaza of Nations and The Village run every 15 minutes and wrap up between 9:10 and 9:30 pm. The boats sail every day of the year except 25 December, with shorter hours on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
More than half the fleet are platform boats. They have room for wheelchairs and for strollers that won't fold, and a bike rides on them for $1 extra on any route. Every dock is wheelchair accessible apart from Spyglass and Plaza of Nations, which have steps. At very low tide the ramps at Stamps Landing and Hornby Street turn steep, so call the office on 604-689-5858 if you need a level path.
An adult pays $5 one way from Hornby Street to Granville Island in 2026, or $8.50 return. The all-day pass at $22 beats single tickets from the fifth short hop, or sooner if you ride out to Yaletown or The Village. Children 4 to 12 and seniors 65 and over pay the concession fare, and children 3 and under ride free. Support workers travelling with a person with a disability ride free one to one.
Worth knowing
- A bike costs $1 on top of the fare, so you can roll onto a platform boat at Hornby Street and ride the seawall on from Granville Island.
- Dogs are welcome on board if they are clean and on a leash.
- The card readers on board take credit and debit cards with the exception of Discover, and the crews take cash.
- Drivers can use the paid lots near the Hornby Street dock at 1380 Burrard Street or by The Village dock at 1455 and 1500 Quebec Street.
