Science World suits families with children under 13 on a rainy day, with hands-on galleries and live shows under the dome at the east end of False Creek, and the trade-off this winter is that the Dome Theatre is closed, so the giant-screen film is off.

The Dome Theatre is closed, so the giant-screen film is off.
A ticket covers the whole day, with live shows and the hands-on galleries, and Science World tells you to allow at least two hours. It opens daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Anyone under 13 needs an adult 19 or older with them, and children 2 and under get in free, as do Indigenous visitors.
The Dome Theatre was closed when we checked in October 2026, and the page gave no date for it to reopen. Triple O's was shut for renovations until the end of October, with the Snack Lab carrying new menu items in the meantime. Like the rest of the city, Science World stands on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), in the words of the City of Vancouver's acknowledgement.
Main Street–Science World station on the Expo Line is a 5-minute walk away, and the train reaches Waterfront in 7 minutes by TransLink's station table. Walk 6 more minutes from there and you're at Canada Place.
Worth knowing
- Parties of 10 or more pay group rates if they reserve through Science World's group team.
- A Family Membership pays for itself in three visits by Science World's own count, so it makes sense on a long winter stay.
- Members don't need to book online and can walk straight in from 9:30 am.
