Access
MOA is wheelchair accessible, with the galleries on one floor and step-free access through most of them. It lends wheelchairs and portable seats free, and the gravel path to the grounds west of the building is uneven in places.
MOA acknowledges that it is built on the traditional, ancestral and unceded land of the Musqueam people. Its collection holds nearly 50,000 objects from around the world, and the ongoing In a Different Light looks again at Northwest Coast art. On the stories page you can read how MOA returned the Sim'oogit Laay' pole to its home in Nisga'a territory.
Tupananchiskama: Ancient Andean Cosmovision stays up until 3 January 2027, with guest curator tours on 26 November and 5 December. From the Deep opens on 19 November 2026, and families get Culture Club on the last Sunday of each month from 11 am to 2 pm, included with admission.
From 15 October to 15 May the museum closes on Mondays and opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, with Thursdays running to 9 pm. In 2026 it shortens the day to 10 am to 2 pm on 24 and 31 December and closes on Christmas Day. For 1 January the English page says 10 am to 2 pm while the French and Chinese pages say 10 am to 5 pm, so plan on the shorter day.
Admission is sold only at the door, by cash, debit or the major cards. Large bags, umbrellas, food and selfie sticks stay out of the galleries, and small lockers take a quarter. The Cedar Café up the ramp from the admission desk opens Tuesday to Sunday in winter from 10 am to 5 pm, and to 7 pm on Thursdays.
Worth knowing
- From UBC Exchange you can ride the 68 to NW Marine Drive at West Mall instead of the 15-minute walk.
- MOA's visit page puts parking in front of the museum at $4 an hour and its FAQ says $4.50, so expect the higher figure. UBC Parking takes cash, cards and the Honk app.
- Roads around campus close on 24 and 25 October 2026 for the Great Trek, so check UBC's road notices before you drive.
- For the way back to Canada Place, the 4 leaves UBC Exchange and reaches Waterfront Station in 41 minutes at midday on TransLink's September 2026 timetable. Add the 15-minute walk to the exchange and 6 minutes from Waterfront to Canada Place.
