Kasama began in 2015 with a photo. Vince's father sent a picture of cacao pods on the family's land in the Cagayan Valley in the northern Philippines, and a bag of beans followed. Vince and three friends turned them into their first batch. Kasama means "companion" or "together" in Tagalog.
The team still makes everything from the bean on Granville Island, and it buys more cacao from small farms elsewhere. Strawberry White took Gold and Best in Category at the 2026 Canadian International Chocolate Awards, one of 12 medals that year. In North Vancouver the Polygon Gallery's shop carries the bars.
Worth knowing
- Visit the Cartwright Street store from Wednesday to Sunday, because it shuts on Mondays and Tuesdays.
