Gallery of BC Ceramics
49°16′ N 123°08′ WGallery
The Gallery of BC Ceramics suits anyone after a mug or a bowl made by a BC potter, because the Potters Guild of BC stocks it with members' work and nothing else. Its hours aren't published online, so a visit works best as part of a wider Granville Island wander.
The Potters Guild of British Columbia set up this gallery on Cartwright Street in 1986, and it still owns and runs it. The room shows only ceramics, by artists at every stage of their careers. Most of what's for sale is functional ware you can cook and eat with. The guild says it can go in the dishwasher and the oven unless a label says otherwise.
The gallery issues no refunds, though it takes exchanges within the window printed on each receipt and offers gift receipts. Exhibitions turn over through the year. Earth, Fire & Form ran from November 2025 to January 2026.
Worth knowing
- Keep your receipt, because the gallery exchanges pieces within the window printed on it and gives no refunds.
- Visit the Craft Council of BC's shop a few doors along Cartwright Street to see more BC clay beside glass and jewellery.
