Meet the makers on the shelves
The shop opened in 2008 inside the Bill Reid Gallery on Hornby Street, a block from the Vancouver Art Gallery. It carries jewellery in gold, silver, argillite and cedar bark, along with masks and sculpture, handmade glass and prints in limited and open editions. The gallery says the work comes from emerging and established Northwest Coast artists. Its catalogues and books follow the current exhibitions.
Entry to the shop is free, so it makes a short stop between downtown errands. Members get 10% off. On the last Thursday of every month seniors 65 and over get 10% off too. The shelves also carry skincare from Sḵwálwen Botanicals, which the Squamish ethnobotanist Leigh Joseph founded.
