MOA Shop
49°16′ N 123°16′ WMuseum shop
The MOA Shop suits a visitor who wants Northwest Coast art or a book on it from a museum that names its artists, and the shop's Musqueam creators collection comes from the Nation whose land the museum stands on. The trade-off is the trip out to UBC, close to an hour by bus and on foot from downtown.

Check the hours before you go
From 15 October to 15 May the shop opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, with Thursdays to 9 pm, and it closes on Mondays. From 15 May to 15 October it opens daily. The shop also sells online.
Meet the makers on the shelves
The shop sits in the museum lobby at UBC, a 15-minute walk from the UBC bus exchange. Its shelves follow MOA's exhibitions, with books such as Glory and Exile: Haida History Robes of Jut-ke-Nay Hazel Wilson. MOA has worked with artists from the Pacific Northwest Coast and further afield in this shop since 1977. The shop's website names artists it features, among them Morgan Asoyuf, Carrie Matilpi, Lou-Ann Neel, Meghann O'Brien and Lyle Wilson.
One collection gathers work by Musqueam creators, which MOA says is dedicated to teaching the creators' living history and culture. Another collects Canadian-made goods. The Squamish skincare company Sḵwálwen Botanicals lists the museum among its stockists. Ask staff who made a piece, because MOA keeps artist profiles for the work it sells.
From October to May the museum closes on Mondays. Thursdays run late to 9 pm all year, which gives you an evening option after a day downtown.
Worth knowing
- Take the 68 from UBC Exchange to NW Marine Drive at West Mall to save the walk on a wet day.
