Ferry Building Gallery

The Ferry Building Gallery suits a winter walk along the Ambleside waterfront, because its Great Gifts holiday sale fills the old ferry terminal with work by local artists each November and December. Outside the holiday sale it runs as an exhibition gallery.
The gallery occupies the historic Ferry Building at Ambleside Landing, where the West Vancouver ferries once tied up. The District of West Vancouver runs it and puts on up to eleven exhibitions a year there. Four more Art in the Hall shows hang at Municipal Hall. The mandate favours artists from the North Shore, the Sea to Sky corridor and the Sunshine Coast.
Great Gifts is the annual holiday exhibition and sale, and it has run for more than two decades. In 2025 it ran from 14 November to 14 December, from 11 am to 5 pm, and opened with an evening sneak preview. The District takes artists' entries through an open call each autumn.
The building sits right on the Seawalk, so a visit pairs with a walk along Ambleside Beach toward Dundarave. The Silk Purse Arts Centre, home of the West Vancouver Community Arts Council, is a few minutes west along Argyle Avenue.
Worth knowing
- Watch the District's arts page from October for the Great Gifts dates and its preview evening.
- Walk the Seawalk west from the gallery to Dundarave, where the cafés along Marine Drive make a good stop.
