Entry is by donation, and Thursdays run until 9 pm.
Access
The building is wheelchair accessible, and an elevator reaches the upstairs gallery. Automatic openers work the doors to every exhibition space, and the ground-floor washrooms are accessible. Staff lend a wheelchair for the visit, and assistance dogs are welcome. Accessible parking sits under Lonsdale Quay Market about 150 metres from the entrance.
The Polygon works from photography outward, and it moved into its waterfront building in 2017 after 40 years as Presentation House Gallery. The building won a Governor General's Medal. Over those decades the organization has put on more than 300 exhibitions, and BMO's support keeps entry by donation every day. The main door faces east toward the Tap & Barrel across the way.
Winter 2026/27 brings The Lind Biennial 2026 from 27 November to 31 January. Catherine Blackburn and Jeneen Frei Njootli's Traces runs from 25 September until 14 March 2027, and the digital exhibition Parallelogram Volume 2: Presence carries on to 27 December. Thursday is the evening to go, because the gallery stays open until 9 pm.
Leave backpacks and big bags in the free lockers, since the exhibition rooms don't allow them, and finish your coffee before you go in. The Polygon offers tours in English, Farsi, French, Mandarin and Spanish. Families can watch for Kids First events, and seniors have a morning program called Meet Me at the Gallery.
Worth knowing
- Leave a wet umbrella in the stand at the front door.
- Check the events page before you go, since talks and concerts run into the evening.
- Come by SeaBus and you are at the door in a couple of minutes on foot, or use the one-hour street parking nearby.
- Indigenous visitors can ask about the gallery's complimentary lifetime membership.
