The ground-floor stalls shut at 7 pm.
The Quay opened on 12 April 1986 as a marketplace for Expo 86, and 2026 is its 40th year. Level 1 holds the market stalls from 9 am to 7 pm, and the shops on the second level open from 10 am to 6 pm. The SeaBus crosses from Waterfront Station in 12 minutes, and from the boat you are inside the building in about two.
The Food Hall is the newest part of the ground floor. It serves alcohol, and its long tables face the harbour through tall windows. The Mainstay Bar mixes cocktails and pours BC wine and beer from 16 taps. Order the siu mai or the spicy dan dan noodles at Heritage Asian Eatery, or fresh pasta from La Mano, which rolls its sheets by hand. For something to carry onto the boat, Butter Lane Bake Shop has macarons and a long list of breakfast sandwiches.
On a winter evening the Food Hall is the warm room on the waterfront. It stays open until 9 pm from Sunday to Thursday and until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. The Polygon Gallery stands next door and the Shipyards Skate Plaza is a few minutes east on foot. The City of North Vancouver acknowledges this ground as the traditional and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Worth knowing
- Look at the Food Hall calendar on the Quay's website before an evening visit, since that is where it posts what's on.
- Most ground-floor stalls shut at 7 pm, so shop for food to take home before then.
