For Lynn Canyon from the SeaBus, walk to Bay 2 at Lonsdale Quay and take the 228. It runs east along 3rd Street, climbs Queensbury Avenue and Grand Boulevard and reaches Lynn Valley Centre in about 20 minutes. The Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre's directions say to stay on to Lynn Valley Road at Peters Road and walk 15 minutes down Peters Road to the park. The 228 runs about every 30 minutes through the day and late into the night, with the last weekday bus from the Quay at 1:40 am.
The 227 is the closer drop. This smaller community shuttle leaves Phibbs Exchange every 30 minutes and loops through Peters Road and Duval Road, where the stop is five minutes on foot from the park. It also finishes early. The last 227 leaves Phibbs at 8:15 pm and the last one back from Lynn Valley Centre at 8:42 pm on weekdays, and on a winter afternoon the park itself closes at dusk, so head back by late afternoon.
Deep Cove sits at the eastern end of the District, and the 212 is the quick way in. From Phibbs Exchange it runs out along the Dollarton Highway and drops you on Gallant Avenue in the village in 16 to 19 minutes. Buses run about every 30 minutes until 9 pm and hourly after that. The 211 takes the longer road by Mount Seymour Parkway, and from mid-morning to early evening some of its buses start at Burrard Station downtown. A Saturday through trip takes 45 to 59 minutes with no change at Phibbs.
All of these are ordinary buses, so every ride is a 1-zone fare at any hour, and a tap at Lonsdale Quay covers the SeaBus transfer within 90 minutes. The R2 from Park Royal and Lonsdale Quay meets the Lynn Valley and Deep Cove buses at Phibbs Exchange, which makes Lynn Canyon and Deep Cove an easy pair for one day out.
Worth knowing
- Lynn Canyon Park is open from dawn to dusk, so in December and January catch a bus home by mid-afternoon.
- On weekdays the last 227 back from Lynn Valley Centre leaves at 8:42 pm. The 228 from Lynn Valley Centre to Lonsdale Quay keeps running until after 1 am.
- For Deep Cove from downtown on a weekend, catch the 211 at Burrard Station Bay 2 between 10 am and 6 pm and ride straight through to Panorama Drive.
- Pay by tap or Compass Card, because a cash fare on the bus gives a transfer that the SeaBus gates won't accept.
