Bar Oso on Whistler's Village Square suits a long evening of Spanish small plates and gin and tonics, and it opens to walk-ins at 4:30 pm every day. On Friday and Saturday nights a DJ takes over late in the evening.
What to order
- Gambas al ajillo
- Octopus done Jorge style
- Jamón ibérico de bellota from Cinco Jotas
- Traditional churros with dulce de leche
Bar Oso shares the 4222 Village Square building with Araxi and calls its cooking Spanish-influenced small plates. The charcuterie runs to Cinco Jotas jamón ibérico de bellota and house-made terrines. From the seafood list, order the gambas al ajillo with garlic and chili or the octopus done Jorge style with confit potatoes and paprika. Traditional churros with dulce de leche and a Basque cheesecake close the menu.
The bar pours seven gin and tonics that run from BC's Sheringham Seaside to Japan's Roku, and Coast Mountain beers come on tap. Walk-ins are always welcome, and reservations open through the restaurant's site. A DJ plays from 9 pm on Fridays and from 8 pm on Saturdays until late, so book an early table if you want a quiet talk. In October 2026 the fall Taste of Spain menu cost $29 for three courses from Sunday to Thursday.
Worth knowing
- Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar sits next door in the same building, so tapas here can come before a dinner reservation there.
- Ask about the fall Taste of Spain set menu if you eat on a Sunday to Thursday night.

A weekday day trip from Lonsdale Quay gives you about 11 hours in Whistler, starting with the 5:47 am SeaBus. One night in the Village turns that into two mountains, an evening and a second morning.
