Pipeline
49°22′ N 123°03′ WAdvanced (District of North Vancouver)Mount Fromme
Pipeline on Mount Fromme in North Vancouver is an Advanced-rated mountain bike descent from the gravel Mountain Highway road to the Baden-Powell Trail, and it suits riders who want one of the trails from Fromme's early building years. The trade-off is a shared name, because Capilano River Regional Park has its own Pipeline Trail, so check which one a closure notice means.

Metro Vancouver closes the paved lot at Lynn Headwaters
Metro Vancouver has closed the paved parking lot at Lynn Headwaters Regional Park while construction goes on, and it gives no date for the lot to reopen. You can still park in the gravel lots and in the marked spaces along the road. Walkers and cyclists keep using the road. Follow the posted signs and whatever the work crews tell you.
Checked 2026-10-17 · metrovancouver.org
The District of North Vancouver rates Pipeline Advanced for mountain biking, and its layer draws the trail in six segments. It starts beside the gravel Mountain Highway road and finishes on the Baden-Powell Trail, which BC Parks describes as the historic trail from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay. Two community trail days in summer 2026 set rock armouring along Pipeline and turned a flat corner into a berm, by the summer update from the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA).
Jim Leppard told nsmb.com for its 2014 history that he thought he had met the guys who built Pipeline once and couldn't be sure. He only saw some people with tools in the distance. Fromme's builders kept their work hidden in those years under the Secret Trail Society, so riders building lines on the same mountain often knew nothing of each other.
Worth knowing
- Metro Vancouver's notice about construction along Pipeline Trail west of Camp Capilano, on weekdays until early 2027, covers the Pipeline Trail in Capilano River Regional Park.
- Leave a trip plan with a friend and carry North Shore Rescue's 10 essentials, because the District of North Vancouver warns that many of its forest and mountain areas get no phone signal. Call 911 early if someone gets hurt or lost, since North Shore Rescue charges nothing for a rescue.
- The District of North Vancouver closes the Fromme parking lot at 6 pm from 1 October to 28 February and at 7 pm in March and April, so plan a winter ride to finish before the lot closes.
