Expresso on Mount Fromme in North Vancouver is an Advanced-rated dirt descent with drops and bridges, and it suits riders at the District of North Vancouver's Advanced grade on a dry day. The trade-off is wet weather, since the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) asks riders to avoid Expresso in heavy rain to keep its dirt on the trail.

Metro Vancouver closes the paved lot at Lynn Headwaters
Metro Vancouver has closed the paved parking lot at Lynn Headwaters Regional Park while construction goes on, and it gives no date for the lot to reopen. You can still park in the gravel lots and in the marked spaces along the road. Walkers and cyclists keep using the road. Follow the posted signs and whatever the work crews tell you.

The District of North Vancouver rates Expresso Advanced for mountain biking, from its top near the gravel Mountain Highway road down to the Baden-Powell Trail. Below the Baden-Powell the line carries on as Lower Expresso, which the District rates Intermediate. nsmb.com's 2014 history puts Expresso beside Grannies among the early Fromme trails that set out to explore the radical nature of the terrain.
MEC funds Expresso through the NSMBA's Trail Adoption Program, and by the NSMBA's summer 2026 update the trail got a complete refresh with rock work throughout. This fall the crews kept going and filled in dirt where drops had grown bigger over time. They also replaced planks on key bridges. The NSMBA's updates thank Digger and the trail crew for the work.
Worth knowing
- Lower Expresso continues below the Baden-Powell Trail at the District's Intermediate grade, and it makes a gentler finish for a mixed group.
- Leave a trip plan with a friend and carry North Shore Rescue's 10 essentials, because the District of North Vancouver warns that many of its forest and mountain areas get no phone signal. Call 911 early if someone gets hurt or lost, since North Shore Rescue charges nothing for a rescue.
- The District of North Vancouver closes the Fromme parking lot at 6 pm from 1 October to 28 February and at 7 pm in March and April, so plan a winter ride to finish before the lot closes.
