Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver suits visitors who want the view over Vancouver from a mountaintop without hiking, because the Blue Grouse Gondola lifts you from the bus stop to the top in five and a half minutes. A Mountain Admission Ticket costs an adult $89 in 2026, and the older Red Skyride is closed for new cabins this winter.

The Red Skyride stops running while Grouse fits new cabins
Grouse Mountain shut the Red Skyride on 28 September 2026 to swap the tram's original 1976 cabins for new ones that carry up to 95 people. The Blue Grouse Gondola keeps running between the base and the top of the mountain, and hikers coming off the BCMC Trail or the Grouse Grind ride it down. Grouse has set no reopening day yet and says it will announce one.

The gondola reaches the top in five and a half minutes.
Access
Wheelchair users park in the designated stalls in the first row of Lot A next to the ramps and the ticket centre. In winter a snow-covered ramp links the top station with the main floor of the Peak Chalet, and staff help if you ask at Guest Services before you ride up. The chalet has no elevators. A free Peak Shuttle carries seniors and guests with mobility needs between the main attractions, and service dogs need a pass from Guest Services and can't visit the Grizzly Bear Habitat.
Buy a Mountain Admission Ticket and ride the Blue Grouse Gondola, which opened on 12 December 2024 and makes the climb in 5.5 minutes in eight-person cabins. The Red Skyride beside it closed on 28 September 2026 for the first full replacement of its 1976 cabins. Its new cabins will hold up to 95 people behind bigger windows and carry fold-out benches for guests who need a seat. Grouse hasn't set a reopening date.
At the top, the Grizzly Bear Habitat and the Theatre in the Sky come with your ticket, and so do the ranger and owl talks. The Lumberjack Show and the Peak Chairlift are closed for the season. Once the snow comes, Mountain Admission also covers the Munday Alpine Snowshoe Park and the mountaintop Skating Pond, where skates rented for $10 for adults and $6 for children in 2025/26. After dark the Light Walk starts at a glowing tunnel beside the pond and circles Blue Grouse Lake for no extra charge, and Grouse suggests snowshoes or cleats on its slippery paths.
Ride the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay and take the 236 to the base. Grouse puts the bus ride at about 25 minutes, and Guest Services takes $10 off your ticket when you arrive by transit. Buy the return SeaBus fare before you leave downtown, because a cash fare paid on the bus home covers the bus alone. The free summer shuttle from Canada Place has stopped for the year. Skiing has its own lift tickets, and the resort page covers those.
Worth knowing
- Check Today on Grouse on the morning you go, since attractions open and close with the weather and the season.
- Lower Mainland residents should buy at the resident rate, which saves $15 on an adult ticket and $50 on a family ticket.
- Grouse limits online orders to 10 tickets, so a bigger group books through Guest Services on 604-980-9311.
- Hikers coming up the BCMC Trail can buy a single downhill ride for the trip down.

How does Vancouver's North Shore fit together between the mountains and the inlet?
Every neighbourhood on Vancouver's North Shore sits on the same narrow shelf between Burrard Inlet and the mountains, and the rivers coming down off the slopes divide it into valleys. You cross it along the water and climb it up each valley.
