The Observatory

The Observatory at the top of North Vancouver's Grouse Mountain suits a special-occasion dinner above the lights of Vancouver, with three courses for $84 or four for $104 a person before tax and tip. It serves only from Wednesday to Sunday evenings, and an advance booking brings each diner a free Mountain Admission ticket for the ride up.
The dining room fills the top floor of the Peak Chalet, and its windows look out over the city lights of Vancouver. Diners choose three or four courses of what Grouse calls west coast cooking. The drinks list leans on Okanagan wineries and local craft brewers and distillers.
Book ahead and Grouse emails each person in the party a Mountain Admission ticket on the day. The ticket works from 4 pm and covers the ride up and the mountaintop activities, so check in at Guest Services at the base first. Grouse took the Red Skyride out of service on 28 September 2026 to replace its cabins, and the Blue Grouse Gondola carries everyone between the base and the summit until it returns.
Seating starts at 5 pm and the last reservation goes at 9 pm. Parties of seven or more book by phone and pay an automatic 18% gratuity. Children are welcome and order from the same menu as adults. For transit, the restaurant's directions name the 232 from Phibbs Exchange and the 236 from Lonsdale Quay, and every paved lot at the base charges for parking.
Worth knowing
- Reserve in advance, because the free mountain ticket comes only with an advance booking.
- Leave time to collect your tickets at Guest Services at the base, since they work from 4 pm on the day of your booking.
- Ask for a high chair or extra seating when you book, as the restaurant requests.
