Check the hours before you go
CityScape opens Wednesday to Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. It stays closed from Sunday to Tuesday.
North Van Arts runs CityScape from a ground-floor storefront on the west side of Lonsdale between 3rd and 4th streets. The arts council puts on eight themed group exhibitions a year from public proposals, and entry is free. A show of contemporary hard-edge abstraction called Angles & Curves hangs in the gallery until 14 November 2026.
The part that suits a shopper is Art Rental. It gathers work by member artists that you can rent or buy, and the council sums it up as "Rent it, Buy it, Love it." The rental panels hang at the back past the office, and staff can bring the lights up on them with a remote. The collection's pages online show each work with its rental and purchase price.
The SeaBus terminal at Lonsdale Quay is three blocks south, and the 230 to Upper Lonsdale is one of several buses that stop within a block. Drivers get two free hours on 4th and 5th streets. A bike rack stands right outside the door on Lonsdale.
Worth knowing
- Register your car at the pay station even for the free first 30 minutes on Lonsdale between 3rd and 4th, because the City's curb plan requires it.
- Come on Thursday 12 November 2026 for Bark as Art, a date-night event at the gallery from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
- Skip strong perfume or cologne, since North Van Arts asks visitors to keep the gallery scent-sensitive.
