49th Parallel Lonsdale
49°19′ N 123°05′ WCafe
49th Parallel Lonsdale sits in the 1908 Keith Block at 93 Lonsdale Avenue, about 440 metres up from the SeaBus terminal at Lonsdale Quay, and it's the coffee stop on the walk into Lower Lonsdale. Plan it for the morning or early afternoon, because it closes at 5 pm every day.
49th Parallel Coffee Roasters opened its fifth café here on 25 March 2022. The room takes its look from the hardware store that first rented the space in the early 1900s, and the fit-out reuses old materials. Canada's Register of Historic Places dates the Keith Block to 1908 and credits its curved corner to the architects Honeyman and Curtis. James Cooper Keith gave the building its name, and Keith Road carries it too.
The doors open at 7 am every day, early enough for a cup on the way down to a morning SeaBus.
