Michelle Ng founded Vancouver Foodie Tours and ran its first tour in 2010, and the company calls itself female-owned. Guides take groups of 4 to 12 out rain or shine. With advance notice they handle most dietary needs, and vegetarian and pescatarian diets just need a note at booking.
For the Granville Island Market Tour, groups meet outside the Public Market building near the corner of Duranleau and Johnston streets. That's across the road from A Bread Affair, and the guide wears a red top. The route suits wheelchairs and strollers. Coming from downtown, take the False Creek Ferries or the Aquabus, which dock about a minute's walk from the meeting point.
Two longer tours start downtown. Gastronomic Gastown is a three-hour seated progressive tasting that meets in front of Six Acres at 203 Carrall Street, and guests 19 and over can add alcohol pairings. For the Ultimate Asian Food Adventure you meet outside Kirin Restaurant at 1172 Alberni Street and spend three hours eating your way round downtown's Asian kitchens.
Through December 2026 the market tour runs Friday to Sunday at 10:30 am, adding 1:30 pm on November weekends, and Gastronomic Gastown leaves at 3 pm on the same days. The Asian tour goes on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am. The holiday Festive Favourites Market Tour runs from 22 November to 31 December, and its 2026 dates hadn't opened for booking by mid-October.
Worth knowing
- Book two different tours in one order for 20% off the second, which the checkout applies on its own.
- Budget an 18–20% tip for the guide, which the company calls customary and leaves out of the ticket.
- Skip the meal before your tour, because the company counts each one as breakfast or lunch.
