Honey Doughnuts & Goodies on Gallant Avenue in Deep Cove suits anyone who wants a warm cake doughnut and a coffee before or after the Quarry Rock hike, and it opens from 6 am to 5 pm every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Expect a queue, because Daily Hive called waiting in line a constant at Honey's in August 2025.

What to order
- Honey doughnut
- Maple-bacon doughnut
- The Coveman's Breakfast
- Grilled Reuben on house potato bread
The shop at 4373 Gallant Avenue has made its doughnuts since 1996, and owners Ashak and Ashifa Saferali run it now. Its menu lists honey, chocolate, maple and cinnamon sugar doughnuts, with maple-bacon and Oreo among the specialty flavours, and the kitchen cuts them by hand from scratch every day. Daily Hive's reviewer described them as cake-based, with a dense and slightly crumbly texture. They come in boxes of six or twelve if you want to carry some down to Deep Cove Park.
Breakfast runs until 4 pm. The Coveman's Breakfast is the full plate of eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast, and bennies with from-scratch hollandaise come out on weekends. Sandwiches go on the shop's own potato bread in white or whole wheat, and the menu says that bread is vegan. Espresso comes from JJ Bean and drip coffee from Canterbury Coffee.
Honey's keeps its usual hours on statutory holidays and shuts only for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. North Shore News readers placed it among the three finalists for both dessert spot and sandwich bar in their 2023 Readers Choice Awards. You can eat in or take everything to go.
Worth knowing
- Breakfast plates stop at 4 pm, an hour before the shop closes.
- Gluten-free bakes on the menu include a coconut chocolate Nanaimo bar and a date square, and any sandwich can go on a gluten-free bagel.
