Is it for you?
Deep Cove and Quarry Rock reward a morning on the trail above Indian Arm and lunch in the village, and the through bus home leaves before dark in winter.
You’ll love Deep Cove and Quarry Rock if
- You want a forest climb to a granite lookout without a car.
- You would paddle Indian Arm on a guided winter tour.
Think twice if
- You plan to drive in on a sunny summer weekend after the morning, when the District says the lots fill early and stay full.

The 211 leaves Burrard Station Bay 2 about every half hour from 10 am and runs over the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge to Panorama Drive at Naughton Avenue in 45 to 57 minutes on the timetable effective 7 September 2026. A bus is a 1-zone fare at any hour, so the trip costs $3.50 by tap. The last through bus back to Burrard leaves Deep Cove at 5:45 pm on weekdays, 5:15 pm on Saturdays and 4:40 pm on Sundays. After that the 211 and the 212 still run to Phibbs Exchange late into the evening, and the R2 links Phibbs with Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus.
Quarry Rock is the walk everyone asks about. The Baden-Powell Trail climbs out of the village through the forest to the granite lookout over Indian Arm. North Shore Rescue asks every hiker to leave a trip plan with someone reliable and to carry its ten essentials, and a light heads that list. Phones lose signal in many North Shore parks, and December light fades early under the trees, so start in the morning.
Honey Doughnuts & Goodies at 4373 Gallant Avenue has made its doughnuts since 1996 and opens daily from 6 am to 5 pm. Arms Reach Bistro cooks by the water at 4390 Gallant until 9 pm. In winter Deep Cove Kayak runs its guided Winter Explorer Tour for paddlers aged 12 and up from November to February by its rate table (the page's header says November to April), at $90 a person plus GST once you count the shop's $1 transaction fee. Every rental there needs full immersion gear under the shop's cold water policy from 5 October 2026.
Tsleil-Waututh Nation's own page centres its community on səlilwət (Burrard Inlet) between Maplewood Flats and Deep Cove, and BC Parks calls the shores of Indian Arm the core of its traditional territory. The Nation and the Province manage Say Nuth Khaw Yum Park together up the arm from the village. Black bears live in the forest around Deep Cove, and feeding one is an offence under BC's Wildlife Act, so pack every scrap out.
Worth knowing
- Leave the car at home on a sunny summer weekend, because the District of North Vancouver says the village lots fill early and stay full.
- Park for free between November and February, since Deep Cove Park and Panorama Park charge only from 1 March to 31 October.
- Pay by tap or Compass Card, because a cash fare's paper transfer won't open the SeaBus gates if you come home by Lonsdale Quay.
