Lost Lake Nordic Trails suit Whistler visitors who want to ski from the village, since the trailhead at the Lost Lake PassivHaus is a short walk from Whistler Village and its 30 km of groomed trail includes a 4 km loop lit until 8 pm. The trails need 50 cm of snow on the valley floor, so the season runs from mid-December to late March, depending on conditions.

The lit loop runs to 8 pm, or 5 pm on 24, 25 and 31 December.
Rent your skis or snowshoes here
Cross Country Connection rents classic and skate packages at the Lost Lake PassivHaus for $35 a full day or $25 after 3 pm, and junior packages and snowshoes cost $25. The RMOW lists those prices for 2026/27 and says they can change. The shop stocks Rossignol skis and Tubbs snowshoes and rents Chariots for small children. You don't need to reserve equipment.
Book a lesson before your first lap
Cross Country Connection's CANSI-certified instructors teach classic and skate in 75-minute lessons that start at 10 am from the shop at the trailhead. For 2025/26 it charged $149 a person for Discover Classic or Ready to Skate and $189 for a private lesson, with the trail pass and rental included. Book ahead to hold a place. Adaptive lessons and equipment go through the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program.
The Resort Municipality of Whistler grooms the trails, and Cross Country Connection sells the tickets and rents the gear out of the Lost Lake PassivHaus at the park entrance. Walk in from the village on the signed route off Lorimer Road. When there's enough snow you can also ski in from Day Lot 5 by following the Valley Trail tracks under the bridge and turning right over the next one. The free Village Shuttle runs all winter, and its Day Lot 4 stop is the closest one to the PassivHaus.
Green trails make a gentle first day: the 4 km Lost Lake Loop under the lights, and a flat 4 km loop over the Nicklaus North golf course. Blue trails take in Lower and Middle Panorama, Hydro Hill and Vimy Ridge. The steeper black-diamond climbs are on Upper Panorama and Centennial and across the Chateau golf course, where the RMOW promises views for the effort. Cross Country Connection hands out free trail maps and advises carrying one, since the park has so many trails.
Snowshoers get their own colour-coded trails, and the Orange and Green trails from the Mons ticket booth make the quicker way up to the Green Lake lookout. The RMOW wants snowshoes over grips once the air climbs above 3°C, because spikes punch through soft snow and damage the trail. An adult day ticket costs $30 for 2026/27, plus tax. From 3 pm the night rate drops to $15, and on Monday and Thursday nights the RMOW halves that to $7.50.
Dogs are prohibited in Lost Lake Park during the Nordic season under the RMOW's rules. About 4 km of the Valley Trail from Rainbow Park to Meadow Park is groomed roughly three times a week with no trail fee, and leashed dogs can come along there. The RMOW acknowledges that Whistler sits on the shared, unceded territory of the Líl̓wat Nation and the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
Worth knowing
- An adult five-pack costs $135 for 2026/27, plus tax, which works out cheaper than five single tickets at $30.
- Open the RMOW's grooming report before you leave. It lists every trail with its distance and when crews last groomed and track-set it.
- Ski the lit Lost Lake Loop after dinner on a clear night. The lights stay on until 8 pm except on 24, 25 and 31 December, when the trails close at 5 pm.
- Beginner trails are lit and suit sit skiing, and Day Lot 5 has three accessible parking stalls. The PassivHaus has an elevator and a universal washroom with a wheelchair to borrow.
- The RMOW bans running, hiking, ice skating and fat biking on the trails during the Nordic season, and everyone on them needs a valid ticket or pass.
