Fisherman's Trail
49°20′ N 123°00′ WEasy Trail (Metro Vancouver)Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve
Fisherman's Trail follows the Seymour River through the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve in North Vancouver, and Metro Vancouver marks it Easy, so it suits families and new riders on a riverside ride or walk. The trade-off for dog owners is that Metro Vancouver bars dogs from the trail north of the Homestead Trail junction.

Metro Vancouver's trail map marks the north and south sections of Fisherman's Trail Easy, and the District of North Vancouver's layer rates it Beginner for biking and hiking. Long stretches follow what the District's layer calls driveable road or 4x4 road. The south end meets the Baden-Powell Trail, and the trail runs north from there up the Seymour valley beside the river.
Metro Vancouver lets horses use the south section and requires bikers and dog walkers to yield to them like every other trail user. Leash your dog when you come up on a horse. South of the Homestead Trail junction your dog may come along if it stays under your control, and it goes on leash in busy areas. Metro Vancouver doesn't allow commercial dog walking anywhere in the reserve.
Worth knowing
- Metro Vancouver opens the reserve at 6 am all year and closes it at 5 pm from November to February, and every vehicle has to be out through the lower gate at the bottom of Lillooet Road by the posted closing time.
- Only Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes may ride in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, and Metro Vancouver asks their riders to stay under 30 km/h and yield to everyone else.
- Metro Vancouver tells its own trail crews to expect no phone signal in most of the reserve's trail areas, so leave a trip plan with a friend and carry North Shore Rescue's 10 essentials.
