Juvelisto takes its name from the Esperanto word for jeweller. Sasha Shkolnik trained in art in Ukraine and in jewellery in Canada, worked for Vancouver jewellers for nearly two decades and opened this shop in Steveston in 2011. The workshop sits on site, so you can watch the goldsmiths at their benches. All custom and repair work happens there.
The gallery cases hold Shkolnik's own collections in gold and silver, with work by other Canadian and international jewellers. Pieces run from stackable rings to a sterling pod pendant strung with freshwater pearls. The shop opened Juvelisto School of Metal Arts after its first three years, and the school teaches the fundamentals of jewellery making.
