Chaz Romalis and his friends opened a small shop in Deep Cove in 1981, when off-road riders were still on single-speed cruisers. Hard riding on the local trails broke plenty of gear, and Chaz turned to redesigning frames. In 1992 Cove Bikes released what it calls the world's first North Shore freeride bike, and the brand still designs its own line in North Vancouver.
