Ore & Orcas at the Britannia Mine Museum on Howe Sound puts a real killer whale skeleton at the centre of a temporary exhibit from 2 November 2026 to 28 February 2027, and it suits families on a winter drive up Highway 99. Museum admission covers it, so there's no extra ticket to buy.

The temporary exhibit fills the museum's Terra Lab and follows copper contamination through Howe Sound's marine food chain from plankton up to the predators. It also shows how the clean-up work now protects the ecosystem. Preserved rockfish and salmon from Howe Sound sit beside the orca.
The Strawberry Isle Marine Research Society found the killer whale in August 1997. Its team preserved her bones and built them into a travelling education display. The Redd Fish Restoration Society owns the skeleton now. The museum suggests ending a visit in the Terra Lab after the underground tour and the BOOM! show.
